Do not be discouraged. God is still at work in you.

Do you think you are unworthy or not fit to serve God. Do you think of yourself that you are good for nothing? Have you gone through rejection in your life or have you been bullied in the past that you now have a low self-esteem? Have you been made a scape goat or people have progressed by walking over you?

We find here in Psalm 73: 1-2 the psalmist is saying 'Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped'. The psalmist knows that God is good but when he looks around at his own situation, his faith in God had almost slipped. In other words he was discouraged, disheartened and disappointed.

Have you gone through discouragement, disheartened and disappointed? Have you experienced failures in your life, that now you find it difficult to trust the Lord?

In Psalm 73, the psalmist also found it difficult to understand all the things that were happening in his life. That's why he is saying in Psalm 73:16 'When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me…' Many times when we try to understand our situation we will find it more painful. But then he goes on to say in verse 17 'Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end'. When we are in the presence of God through prayer and worship, that's where we will find our peace and security. In God's presence we will find peace. The world and the devil will throw all kinds of fear and anxiety at us, but in God's presence we will find confidence. The more we spend time with God, the more we will be strong. The psalmist says in 25 'Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 27 For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish... 28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works'.

The psalmist is saying 'it was good for him to draw near to God. While he was away from God he was confused, discouraged, disheartened, disappointed and afraid. But the moment he came in to God's presence confidence, faith, peace, security and hope came in to his life.

Friend today you might be in that same situation as that psalmist. My encouragement to you is this come in to God's presence through prayer and worship. Read His word and soon your position will change from discouragement to encouragement.

Looser are the one who look at what they are going through but winners are the one who look at what they are going to.

Paul says in Philippians 4:12-14 (New Living Translation)

12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
